Prince George, B.C.- As expected, a Smoke Advisory for Prince George  has been issued because of wildfire fire smoke that is affecting some areas. This situation is expected to persist until late Tuesday.

As Opinion 250   reported earlier today, the smoke is coming from Siberia, and now possibly Asia. Light winds are expected to remain over the region overnight. However, a weak disturbance is expected to move through the region later Tuesday, with some improvement in air quality expected.

The provincial air quality objective for fine particles, PM2.5, is 25 micrograms per cubic metre, averaged over 24 hours. The 24 hour PM2.5 rolling average was 24 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown site and 20 µg/m3 at College Heights at 4 pm today.

The provincial air quality objective for coarse particles, PM10, is 50 micrograms per cubic metre, averaged over 24 hours. The 24 hour PM10 rolling average was 41 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown, 34 µg/m3 at College Heights and 46 µg/m3 at BCR at 4 pm today.

There is an awful smell in the city right now and it is not forest fire smell….it is the pulp mills stink! I know it was forest fire smelling earlier today but not now…it is that awful smell from those pulp mills!!

Let’s shut down the pulp mills and go on welfare………….

“the smoke is coming from Siberia, and now possibly Asia”

ummmm …. late breaking news ….

Siberia is in Asia ….. Siberia makes up most of Northern Asia. Russia stradles two continents – Europe and Asia.

NASA reports seem to have referred to the fire as being from Asia right from the beginning.

Here is a report from mid June.

That smell is the smell of pulp mills keeping people in the community employed. It helps to sustain the local and regional economy. If it bothers your delicate sense of smell so much, I suggest you move.

Hey, really great suggestion!

For some strange reason or other I was not able to come up with that as a possible option. You have shed a major light on a probelm I have been having for decades.

Of course, now you have totally frustrated me.

With people who come up with such eye-opening suggestions and concern for people people like me livng here, I now don’t know if I should move because of the air, or stay because of such caring people as you.

Decision … decisions … decisions…..

So, I see that you are a self-proclaimed gamer, coffee addict, geek, hocky goalie, etc.

That is all really great ….. it is the “overall good guy” part that I am having some problem wth based on your post on here. ;-)
