Charges In Wake of Theft from Vehicles

Tuesday, July 10, 2012 @ 5:07 PM

Prince George, B.C.- Two middle aged Prince George men are  facing a string of charges following  a string of thefts from vehicles.

RCMP responded  to a call about  two males  breaking into parked vehicles on Jackson Crescent  early last Friday  morning.

Officers were able to locate and arrest without incident, one man who was trying to  leave the  scene  on a bicycle.

Two other officers located a second suspect in a yard on Jackson Crescent. RCMP say  the officers advised the suspect that he was under arrest, but he chose to flee on a bike. Officers pursued on foot. The suspect abandoned the bike and jumped fences in the area, ending up on Campbell Avenue. As an officer caught up to the suspect, the suspect turned, produced a knife and pointed it at the officer.

The officer engaged the suspect and was able to free the knife from his hand.
A second officer arrived shortly after and assisted in controlling the man, who was still struggling. While the suspect resisted, an officer observed a second knife in a sheath on the suspect’s belt. Fortunately the suspect was not able to get to the knife and the officers were able to handcuff him without further incident.

A number of items believed to have been stolen, were located and seized from the two men.
