Prince George, B.C.-  It will be several hours more before Highway 16,  is reopened east of Prince George.

The driver of that vehicle was  prounounced dead at the scene, the passenger was transported to the University  Hospital of Northern B.C. and is said to be in stable condition with moderate injuries.

The two occupants in the pick up have also been  taken to hospital.  While both suffered serious injuries, the  passenger in the truck  is listed as being  in critical condition.

The investigation has been delayed because of the  vehicle fire.  The investigation into the contributing factors in this crash continues, as investigators examine the physical evidence on the highway.  The Collision Reconstructionist from Prince George is examining the crash scene with the BC Coroner and other police investigators.

Police say the highway will remain closed for the next several hours, as investigators attempt to document  what they are calling a "large and complicated scene".

Anyone with any information or who may have witnessed the crash, is asked to contact the Prince George Regional Provincial Traffic Services Unit at Tel# (250) 649-4004.  Police are interested in any information relating to the pre-crash actions of either vehicle.
