DBIA Re-Opens Communication Channel with Opinion250

Tuesday, July 17, 2012 @ 3:59 AM
Prince George, B.C. – For the first time in more than two years, members of the Prince George Downtown Business Improvement Association can be interviewed by Opinion 250.

The new executive of the DBIA has rescinded a motion that was passed in June of 2010, which prevented anyone in the DBIA from speaking with Opinion250.

The gag order motion read:
“That Opinion 250 be given press releases, but that no interviews be given. Further, that all other media be given both press releases and interviews.”

Since that date, Opinion 250 has received media releases, but no one with the DBIA was allowed to speak to Opinion 250 on the questions which may have arisen from those releases, or the activities of the DBIA.
Last week, the new executive rescinded that motion.

President Rod Holmes says rescinding  the motion just makes sense “We want to cooperate with all the media and give everyone the opportunity to interview us and  certainly  Opinion 250 is widely read.”

Holmes says the DBIA is taking several steps to increase it’s openness and transparency, including posting the minutes of their meetings  ( once they have been approved ) on their website which is already being re-tweaked.

Finally we can be thankful that Mr. Holmes rescinded the motion that was passed in 2010, If things had of been done right from the beginning then maybe the VLA would still be a wonderful place to live and not be classified as the HOOD . I was run out one might say by dicisions made by the DBIA under the first President …..I will not nor have not supported the down town since

Rod Holmes is a good guy who makes good decisions.

Cheers to Mr. Holmes.

A story we will not read about in the Citizen?
