It’s Salmon Day at Fort St James

St. James, B.C. – Today is Salmon Day in Fort St. James, and the community is inviting people from through the region to the Fort St. James National Historic Site to celebrate the event and take part in a long list of activities.
Fort St. James is situated adjacent to Fort one of the most important salmon fisheries in the world, and salmon are a part of the life of the local culture. Salmon Day raises the profile and awareness of the resource as both a staple of the past and a crucial conservation focus of today.
The big event of the day is the Salmon Cook-off, with six teams, including the defending champion Mount Milligan Mine crew, cooking up their best salmon recipe. 200 judges get to taste the cuisine and vote to determine which is the winner.
