Plenty of Booze Infractions at Barker Days

Quesnel, B.C. – Quesnel RCMP are giving a big tip of the hat to the Billy Barker Days Committee and the Community of Quesnel on another successful Billy Barker Days event.
Advanced planning by Event Organizers and increased police presence resulted in a very successful and relatively uneventful Billy Barker Days for police. Law enforcement resources from Quesnel as well as Williams Lake, 100 Mile House and Prince George were on hand to ensure safety at various events throughout the weekend. Increased police presence included numerous police road blocks, foot and bike patrols of venues and uniformed and plain clothes mobile patrols.
Between noon on Thursday and midnight Sunday Quesnel RCMP investigated a total of 270 police files – the bulk of which involved intoxicated persons. Police arrested 100 people for being intoxicated in public and responded to several assaults, some property related crime and other general calls for service.
RCMP took eight impaired drivers off the road, issuing 3 3-Day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions, 4 90- Day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions, and 1 Criminal Code Impaired. As well 2 12-hour suspensions were issued to new drivers who consumed alcohol contrary to restrictions.
More than 98 violation tickets and 79 warnings were also issued for various traffic violations.

Sounds like just another weekend in Quesnel.
I thought the law stated that if you were a new driver with any alcohol in your blood, you lost your license and had to start over. Have I been misinformed?
