BC To Be Well-Represented At London Olympics

Of the 277 athletes that make up the Canadian Olympic Team, 40-percent are either born and/or train in BC.
Canadian Sport Centre Pacific CEO, Wendy Pattenden, says, "For a province that represents only 13-percent of our national population, we are proud of the fact that BC will be sending 40-percent of the athletes who make up the 2012 Olympic team." Pattenden says BC-based athletes could bring home up to 50-percent of Canada’s medals in London.
Three athletes on the team are from the Central Interior.
Olympic gold medallist, Carol Huynh, is looking to repeat – after winning her medal in wrestling at the 2008 Games in Beijing. Huynh hails from the small northwestern community of Hazelton. She arrived in London today, in time for tomorrow’s Opening Ceremonies and competes on August 8th. Anyone wanting to post a good luck message can go to Huynh’s website by clicking here.
Also competing in wrestling will be Leah Callahan of Mackenzie. Although born in Newfoundland, Callahan grew up in Mackenzie before moving to Calgary to join UoC’s varsity wrestling team. Messages of support can be left at www.callahanleah.com

BC Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development, Ida Chong, says, " I join British Columbians everywhere in congratulating our Olympic athletes on their tremendous success as high-performance competitors."
The games run until August 12th.

I would like to congratulate all our athletes on making the Olympic team. I hope they all come home with great memories of their experience there.
Me too! Hope they make sure to not talk to Gordon Campbell. And if they do I suppose it would be best if they kept it to themselves.
