Williams Lake Arrest Under Independent Investigation
Prince George, BC – The West Vancouver Police Department has been called in by the RCMP in Williams Lake to conduct a criminal investigation into an arrest in that community that resulted in the suspect being injured.
Williams Lake Detachment Inspector, Warren Brown, says the incident began as a vehicle pursuit in Quesnel on July 21st, and carried on into the Williams Lake area. In a news release issued yesterday, Inspector Brown says, "The 35 year old suspect was eventually located and arrested. He sustained injuries during the arrest and is currently still in hospital."
West Vancouver Police Constable Lisa Schmidtke says, "The WVPD has assigned a number of investigators who will deal with this investigation in a fair, transparent and timely manner."
The Commission for Public Complaints Against the RCMP has also been notified.
