Hwy 16 Wildfire Kept Two Halls Busy

Saturday, August 4, 2012 @ 4:08 AM

Prince George, BC – A wildfire sparked in a hayfield along Highway 16 East kept fire fighters from two PG Fire Rescue halls busy yesterday afternoon.

Assistant Fire Chief Elden Gjerde says eight fire fighters responded to the blaze burning in a field underneath BC Hydro lines alongside the highway shortly before 1pm yesterday afternoon.

Gjerde says the fire fighters managed to contain the fire to approximately one acre in size and remained on-scene for almost two hours, extinguishing hot spots.

Damage was limited to the hay crop.  There were no injuries.
