Knights Out Of Peewee AA Baseball Provincials
Prince George, BC – The Prince George Lomak Knights have been knocked out of the Peewee AA Provincial Baseball tournament in Chilliwack, after falling 7-2 to Burnaby this afternoon.
The game was close until the Burnaby Braves put together a string of hits and scored four times in the sixth inning. The Knights scored single runs in the first and seventh innings, and cutdown on the strike-outs that had slowed their offence in the first three games, but Burnaby’s pitching limited the team to just six hits.
Cole Beacom allowed just three hits in three-and-a-third innings for the Lomak Knights, and was named Prince George’s Player of the Game.
The team is heading home with a 1-and-3 record. Head Coach, Jim Swanson, said after today’s game, "We stopped making the uncharacteristic mistakes that put us up against the ropes, losing the first two games, but Burnaby played a near-perfect game and deserved to win."
"This is a disappointing result for this group, this is a collection of players with a lot of heart and talent," said Swanson. "We saw a lot of improvement this season, watched them grow up as players, and players like Dustin Aldana and Michael Taylor stood out this weekend, playing very well under the pressure that comes with a provincial tournament."
The Knights finished the season with 15 wins in 29 games.
