Prince George, BC – Jay Cook’s sacrifice bunt in the first extra inning wound up scoring two runs and proved to be the difference as the Prince George Grays ousted the defending champion Victoria Mavericks from the BC Senior Men’s Provincial Baseball Championship with a 7-5 victory this morning.

Cook’s bunt was intended to move Kalen Kirkpatrick into scoring position at second at the Citizen Field this morning, but an overthrow at first base went down the line, allowing Kirkpatrick and Cook to score on the play.

The Mavericks forced the extra inning with three runs at the bottom of the sixth.  Neither team scored in the seventh.

Round robin action at the BID Group Provincials continues throughout the day, with the Grays stepping onto the field in either the 6pm or 8:30pm play-off game.
