How PG Folks Enjoy The Sunshine
On the water, in the parks, Prince George residents take to the outdoors to bask in the sunshine
Prince George, BC – What do Prince George residents do on a blue blazer? The better question might be, what don’t they…
They boat.
The Quarenghi family strapped on life jackets and took to the water.
Mike, Jared, Rya, and Bobbi were among the many boaters taking to the rivers from the Nechako boat launch in Cottonwood Island Park.
They bike.
Cyclists Clayton Wilkinson (left) and Bryce Gladdish (right) were relying solely on their own power to take in all the day had to offer.
The pair pulled into the parking lot at the park for a brief breather, before resuming what must have been a challenging ride in the heat.
They go for walks.
A short distance away, 250 News met up with brothers, Albert Redlon and Joseph Lehman, along with faithful companion, Daisy May, on the replica of the Cameron Street bridge, as they were finishing up a walk through the park.
The trio was surprised and delighted to discover a few of the park’s hidden treasures among the trees. (see photo at left in explanation)
They came to the Cottonwood Island after their weekly visit to the Farmer’s Market at Wilson Square.
They visit the Farmers’ Market.
At the market, eight-year-old Christian and 10-year-old Alex Greenaway found some much-needed shade by ducking under the umbrella at the lemonade stand with their grandparents, Linda and Bob Greenaway.
The boys, who are visiting from Chase, BC, say the day got off to a great start with french toast at their grandparents’ house, and the cold drinks were proving to be the perfect capper.
They picnic.
Also visiting Prince George from across the country, were friends and relatives of Jillian MacMillan and Keith Uloth.
The group gathered with the bride-and-groom-to-be for a pre-wedding picnic in Fort George Park.
The happy couple will exchange their vows in an outdoor ceremony today.
They skateboard.
Dallas Cote (left) and Alex Sergeev (right) were soaking up the sun atop Connaught Hill Park.
The pair was about to embark on what must have been a harrowing ride down the park’s winding drive.
They cool themselves…and their animals.

They watch baseball.
A crowd was on-hand to watch the Prince George Grays capture their first win at the BC Senior Men’s Provincial Baseball championships last night.
(The Grays edged Burnaby 4-3, to improve to 1-and-1 at the tournament and play again at 8am this morning)
And, they volunteer.
10-year-old Ethan Wood was doing his part to support the Grays, hosts of the 2012 provincials, by manning the admission table at the entrance to the ballpark during last night’s game.
And that’s just a small sampling of the many ways city residents are ensuring last summer’s constant drizzle – and on numerous occasions, outright downpours – remains a distant memory. (click here, for a comparison of this July to last)
