Diamond Jubilee Medals To Be Awarded to 13 P.G. Residents

Prince George, B.C. – Three people who can say they have been a Councillor for the City of Prince George, are among thirteen who will be awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal this week.Councillor Murry Krause and former City Councillors Shirley Gratton and Anne Martin are on the list of recipients.
There will be two ceremonies at the Two Rivers Art Gallery on Wednesday.
The first ceremony will start at 9:30 in the morning and will honour Murry Krause, Peter Haring, June Haring, Sharon Hurd, Penny Stewart, Renee Trepanier and Donalda Carson.
The second ceremony will start at 11:00 a.m. and will honour Betty Kovacic, Shirley Gratton, Anne Martin, Andrew Burton, Laura Sandberg, and Betty June Gair.
The Diamonf Jubilee Medal Award consists of a letter of commendation from the Governor General on behalf of the Queen, an official certificate, lapel pin and the specially designed medal which is shown at right.

Who are all these people. Well everyone knows Murry Kruse but who is he really. Wonder who made up this list? And really why. I hnave always felt great if I could help some one which is a reward in itself. Buit I guess there are other opinions. Some just have to have a reward.

Only those who travel in certain circles will understand the importance of these awards. I myself do not understand. Like Retired02, I thought the honour came from service to others, a personal pride that you keep to yourself.

Really people? This award is for being noticed in your efforts of giving back to the community or country. People are nominated by others for this. I know only a couple of people on this list and I know there is absolutely no way they went out “looking for reward” – they work tirelessly on various causes. Maybe if some of you spent as much time volunteering and helping as much as beotching on web sites you would be nominated for an award too.

Thanks for the clarification and gentle admonishment, Interceptor. I stand corrected. I have never heard of this award, nor did I suspect that ones peers or admirers are responsible for nominations.
