PGX Fireworks Show Delights Crowds

Saturday, August 11, 2012 @ 7:45 AM
Prince George, B.C. – Prince George residents old and young got a real treat Friday night, courtesy organizers of the 100th anniversary of the Prince George Exhibition.

The people behind the PGX marked the centenary celebration, and the final show of the exhibition under its present name, by putting on a spectacular fireworks display at the city soccer fields across 18th from the exhibition grounds.

Young and old, people gathered at the Aquatic Centre, in parking lots, on apartment balconies, along streets, and even perched above the show at the top of University Way, to watch the 25-minute fireworks extravaganza that began at 11pm.

Judging by the reaction of some of those watching, the Exhibition’s organizers did a bang-up job in providing some great entertainment on a summer evening. And, it was absolutely free to the patrons, who even got a pre-show display from the Perseid meteor showers which are visible in our area over the next few nights.

Yes, that was some show! Stick that in your pipe and smoke it Prince George! I think everyone who saw the display was very impressed. For the City to take the stand against the PGX, as they did, I think this should show them that the PEOPLE of this city voted for the PGX with their attendance and the PGX showed that it is people powered, not hamstrung by the likes of the city administration and City Council!
Very well done PGX and congratulations on your 100th!!

My wife and I enjoyed probably the best fireworks show that Prince George has seen.

Fantastic…. Thank you PGX and Happy 100 years.

I seen it from the highway by pine center and was surprised I hadn’t heard about it. Very awesome addition to the PGX. Seen the fireworks at English Bay last weekend with 800,000 others and that was fantastic. Its nice to see PG can still put on a fireworks show of our own.

Just for the record – The PGX hired Starlight FX, a local fireworks company specializing in presenting top quality display fireworks, to produce the display seen on Friday night. Starlight FX can also smaller fireworks displays for weddings, birthdays or any other special occasion.

Nice spam.

New name, precious owner back in business with most of his loyal, dedicated volunteers. Good on you D. And it was the best show ever in PG.

Meant previous owner.

Will the City Of Prince George celebrate it’s centennial with a fireworks show as good as or better than this one?

Raise $25,000 and it could be a reality. Why not?
