Crews Make Progress on Big Bar Fire

Clinton, B.C. – The wildfire burning about 40 kms west of Clinton is now 20% contained and is said to be about 420 hectares in size.
Last evening, residents in the area were advised they could return to their homes, but an evacuation alert remains in place should the situation change.
The fire is being attacked by 120 firefighters , and 6 helicopters. A specialized type two incident management team is on scene. Multiple pieces of heavy equipment will continue to build fuel-free areas around the fire. The four helicopters are being used to deliver water bucketing support to slow the fire’s spread.
The fire has consumed two structures, although officials have not been specific on the nature of those structures.
The casue of the fire is still under investigation.
