Finance Minister Post Short Term Says Bond
Wednesday, August 29, 2012 @ 2:35 PM
Prince George, B.C. – Interim Finance Minister, Shirley Bond, says Kevin Falcon’s departure from Cabinet is “a disappointment for me , Kevin is a very good friend of mine. I have come to rely on him a great deal, but I also understand the importance of his family to him.”
Falcon and his wife are expecting their second child which is said to be due just around the time the next provincial budget will be delivered. He announced his resignation from Cabinet this morning and announced he will not be seeking re-election.
Shirley Bond already carries the weight of the Ministry of Justice (formerly Solicitor General and Public Safety) and that of Attorney General. She says she will do the job the Premier has asked her to do, “on a short term basis”. That short term could end next week, when the Premier unveils her new Cabinet, the one she expects will take her party into the next election.
Bond is already the Vice Chair of the Treasury Board, and adds her move to the lead the Ministry is “probably a natural situation as the Premier contemplates what her new Cabinet will look like.”
Bond says she has advised the Premier it is her intention to run in the next election. “I think that it’s important for her (the Premier) to be aware of those people who are choosing to run or not. This is the Cabinet I believe she will take into the election. I have indicated it is my intent to run again and I certainly hope that as she considers her Cabinet that I’ll have the opportunity to continue to serve.”

Now lets try this again. Those Liberal MLA’s are leaving the party like rats from a sinking ship. How’s that?
cheers
Bond, Bell, and Rustad are running again, at least the last I heard.
Shorter Term the better
Im sure Christy has asked all MLA’s to announce their intentions for the next election sooner rather than later.
I still think we could see an early election, whats the point of waiting????
Neither Shirley Bond or any other MLA can do a good job when they are reponsible for
three Ministries. The sooner they get this bloody mess cleared up, the better.
Well, this is a sirprise but then again not unexpected bond will be minister of everything and bell minister of whats left. In the end righting on the wall off they go.
I think if Christy Clark wishes to win the next election she should start making some common sense changes in this province, and a good place to begin in that regard is to make major reductions in the pensions BC MLA’s are receiving.

A short term Bond? Sounds good to me.
What’s the interest rate Harbinger?
Short term? You probably have to pay for them inusuring the “investment” and doing the paper work.
I agree with you Charles, but if there is one thing the Liberals and the NDP agree on, it is the sacred pension!
That’s ’cause there’s really no difference between them, cougs78. The one on the left states that the poor are poor because the rich are rich. And the one on the right tries their best to prove it.
John Rustad at the bottem could be next Minister of Finance,OMG
Interest rate? Try a floating one. Not like the present government which is sinking.
