Three More Say they Won’t Run
Prince George, B.C.- Three more Liberals, have announced they will not seek re-election in May of 2013.
Education Minister George Abbot, Minister of Children and Family,Mary MacNeil, and John Les the Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier, have all announced they will not be on the ballot in their respective ridings.
Premier Christy Clark has issued a thank you to the trio "for their dedication and commitment to British Columbia."
Premier Clark noted the long service of Abbott ( 16 years) "George and I were first elected as MLAs in 1996, and it has been an honour and privilege to work with him over the years. His keen intellect and sharp wit around the cabinet table and in caucus will be greatly missed. As Minister of Education his delicate tact and tireless work was instrumental to negotiating a settlement with the BCTF earlier this year. I would like to thank George for his dedication to B.C. and I wish him and his family all the best as they enter the next stage of their lives together."
She remarked on the near 25 years JohnLes has been in public office, first as Mayor of Chilliwack and then as an MLA."John Les has served with distinction the residents of Chilliwack for nearly a quarter of a century first as mayor and later as MLA. His decision not to seek re-election is not only a loss to our government, but also to Chilliwack. During his time as Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor-General John was integral to helping fight drugs and combat crime in B.C. I would like to thank John’s wife Mattie and their six children and 15 grandchildren for sharing him with us, and I wish them all the best going forward."
MacNeil has the least amount of seniority among the three, having been first elected in 2009. " Mary will be remembered for her collaborative approach, working with B.C.’s Representative for Children and Youth to improve the lives of B.C.’s most vulnerable children. With 13 grandchildren I understand her decision not to seek re-election and to spend more time with her family. I pass on my best wishes to Mary, Rod and the rest of their family.

The rats are really fleeing the sinking ship now. Trying to spare themselves the indignity of being blown away in the next election. Cowards.
I am sad that Kevin Falcon will not be holding the purse strings. Hang on to your hat, we are gonna have a long five years.
Everyone seems to be “spending more time with family.”
BS.
Let’s see what they’re all up to in a year from now. I’ll bet it pays much better than spending time with family.
Just a reminder that everyone’s time will come …..
With respect the time of politicians and political parties or politicians, they all will eventually fall and move on.
Falcon was holding the purse strings. Thats one of the reasons he’s leaving.
Wait till the bills start coming in. Then we will see just how smart this dude actually was.
I’m not sure why people are so surprised at the rats leaving the Liberal Party. They are a collection of people who years ago distanced themselves years ago from the Social Credit stink of Vander Zalm.
It’s nothing more than lipstick on a pig.
Pylot, that wont be the same vander zalm that came out from beneath a rock to self edify his ego with the anti HST campaign.
Hallelujah!!!! For Bill VanderZalm!!!!
Should take Gordon Campbell’s Order of BC and give it to a Bill VanderZalm!!!!
Altho that one probably has Gordo germs….
Go Bill Go!!!
They have secured their pension at a young age. Why would they bother being humiliated at the polls when they can walk into oblivion and probably a Political patronage job with more money. VanderZalm should be tarred and feathered by the businessmen of BC for his part in scrapping the HST. I personally, do not see the PST ever coming back — this too will pass.
Supertech.
1. The HST will (by law) be gone on April 1/13. Thats April fools day to commemorate the Fools who brought it in.
2. Unless this (so called) Government does something pretty quick, the PST will be re-instated at the same time.
3. The Chief of Staff for Gordon Campbell,(fired by Christy) recently wrote an ebook in which he stated that the Liberals made two very serious mistakes. One was to bring in the HST after the election. He admitted that it was nothing more than a tax grab by the Liberals, and a boon for the corporations. The second mistake was that they totally underestimated the popularity of Bill Vanderzalm, and his ability to get the support of the people to scrap the HST.
So in essence Bill Vanderzalm not only got rid of the HST, but because of the stupidity of the Liberals at the time, he also dealt them a death blow.
As someone once said. ***No army in the world can withstand an idea who’s time has come**
Hopefully in the next few days, we will hear that Terry Lake, and Colin Hansen will not run again.
These two losers were big supporters of the HST.
Bell, Bond, and Rustad, will run again, because they feel even if the Liberals lose the Government they can sit on their behinds and collect a big pay cheque for the next 4 years. Being in opposition with little responsibility makes for a cushy job.
Problem is, they may not win their respective ridings. All is not well in the North. The support they had in the last election may not be there this time around.
Bell, Bond, and Rustad should find employment in jobs they are more suited for and distance themselves from their friends in the lieberal party. Maybe the lieberal stench might leave them they also thought that the HST was the greatest thing since buttered bread—whata bunch of turds.
They are starting to bail out. It is late in the day but better late than never. The swinging door I hope will hit Bond and Bell hard in their asses when they are forced out of their little nests.
