Police Enforcing Traffic Safety This Weekend

Saturday, September 1, 2012 @ 5:21 AM
Prince George, B.C. – Motorists can expect to see a highly-visible police presence this Labour Day long weekend.

Both the Prince George City RCMP detachment and Prince George Regional Provincial Traffic Services will have full compliments of officers on duty, right up to and including the Monday holiday.

Police will be watching for various infractions, including impaired driving, distracted driving, speeding, tailgating, driving without due care and attention and other driving practices that put others at risk.

The Labour Day weekend in B.C. is typically a period in which the highest number of traffic accidents, deaths and injuries are recorded.

The idea of the added policing is to make sure those accidents are avoided.

Drive with care.

Nice to see because their presence always has a calming effect on drivers out there. Really sorry to hear there’s already been one fatality though. Hopefully its the last one this weekend.

I came south on highway 97 Friday afternoon, and saw a couple people pulled over getting tickets. Unfortunately this did little to deter the reckless drivers! More than a few people were passing in down right unsafe places, when the flow of traffic was going 100 km! I have noticed it is hard to read the plate when they are going 150 and have dirty plates!

Put your foot in it! 100 is too slow for our highways. If ya got the HP — use it.
That’s my motto. Who cares about fines — money talks ya know.

Just drove Dawson Creek to PG yesterday and saw one ghost car…is that what they call a ‘highly visible police presence’….

In all honesty though, there wasn’t even one patrol car at the new Tim Hortons in Chetwynd. ;-)

Big Bore! I assume you are joking! If not, please drive south of town so I’m not on the same highway as you!
