Lekstrom Won’t Run Again

Tuesday, September 4, 2012 @ 7:54 PM

Prince George, B.C.- Peace River South MLA and Minister of Transportation, Blair Lekstrom, has  announced he will not seek re-election in the May 2013  Provincial Election.

Lekstrom has  served nearly 20 years in public office,  3 as a city councillor, five as Mayor of Dawson Creek and nearly 12 as an MLA.

He offered thanks to both former Premier Gordon Campbell, and current Premier Christy Clark  for " their support and commitment to helping build a stronger province for all."

Lekstrom offered thanks to his  cabinet and caucus colleagues,  for their hard work and their friendship.  He also offered a thank you to  those who sit on the  opposition side of the house " Politics can be an unforgiving profession, but I have always believed that – whether you are on the government side of the house or on the opposition side – we are all here because we believe we have something to offer which will make our province a better place, not only for the people today, but more importantly we want to build a better province for our children, grandchildren and future generations."

He offered a thank you to the government employees,  the residents of Peace River South  and to his family.  “I leave to pursue new opportunities in life and want to again thank Premier Clark for her support. I know that she will continue to lead this province in a positive direction."

Premier Clark has issued  her own statement on Lekstrom’s departure:  "Blair has always been passionate advocate for northern British Columbia, always putting the best interests of his constituents above all else. His straight forward and upfront approach will be missed in cabinet and caucus."   She adds, “Well regarded by members of both sides of the house, Blair’s outgoing positive personality transcended party lines. He will be missed greatly by staff and all MLAs. He deserves our praise and admiration for over 19 years of public service.  I wish Blair all the best as he starts the next chapter in his life.”

Actually there were three announcements to-day Lekstroms, and the the fact that Joan Mcintyre, and Rob Howard Libeal MLA’s also wont run.

Total drop outs to date thirteen (13) with more to come.

Pat Bell was a big supporter of Falcon at the Liberal Convention however as soon as he realized that Christy won, he ran over and gave her a big hug. Im surprised that he is staying. I guess he wants some training in opposition.

Look up “Yes Man” in the dictionary and you will see a picture of Bell.

Pat Bell, Shirley Bond, and Christy Clark I believde have all seen better days and should just step down as the Liberals have all but given away the assets of this province to their friends. In the years to come even these so called friends will soon forget Christy Clark and what she once represented. It is truly very sad as the Liberal Party could have represented BC for a long time to come. Bye bye Liberals.
