Saturday, September 8, 2012 @ 4:14 AM

Terrace, BC –  RCMP in Terrace are warning the public to be on alert after a young girl was followed after getting off a school bus this week…

Police say the 13-year-old girl noticed she was being followed by a man after she got off the bus near Churchill Drive and Highway 37 on Thursday afternoon, at approximately 4pm.  Constable Lori Foster says the man ran off into the woods when a neighbour acknowledged the girl.

"We do not know what this man was up to," says Constable Foster.  "The girl made it home safely and told her mother right away about the incident."

The suspect is described as a First Nations male in his early 40’s, with black hair and dark clothing.  He’s approximately five-feet, nine-inches tall and average weight.

"Neighbours need to be aware of who and what belongs in their neighbourhood and report anything that doesn’t to the RCMP immediately," says Foster.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Terrace Detachment at 250-638-7400 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
