Volunteers with the local Special Olympics group answer inquiries at the Active Living Market

Prince George, BC – It is that time of year once again, when many city residents return to ‘organized’ recreational activities…

City of Prince George Recreation Coordinator, Doug Hofstede, says approximately 35 city groups are involved in this weekend’s Active Living Market at Pine Centre Mall today and tomorrow.

Hofstede says the majority of the groups are recreation-based, but there are a few arts groups and some education-based participants, as well.

From figure skating, skiing, singing, to cadets, and minor basketball, Hofstede says it’s an excellent way to find out all the city has to offer in one location – you can chat with representatives from the groups, find out about the programs they offer, and many have registration on-hand.

I would highly recommend volunteering with Special Olympics. Great organization and a very rewarding experience. Those athletes are some of the best people I know.
