Tour de North Kick Off Tomorrow

Prince George, B.C.- Tomorrow morning, 20 people, most of them RCMP members, will get on their bikes and start the grueling ride to Prince Rupert.  
 
Over  7 days, they will cover 850 kilometers with stops along the way to collect donations.
 
It is the 2012 Canadian Cancer Society’s Cops for Cancer Tour de North event, and the big send off is set for tomorrow morning at the Canadian Tire parking lot.
 
The ride raises funds and awareness for paediatric cancer research, Camp Goodtimes (www.campgoodtimes.org) and other programs that support kids with cancer.
 
The Tour de North team this year, is made up of 17 RCMP members, one medic rider from Vanderhoof and two Community Riders from Prince George. All 20 have spent months training and raising funds for the ride.
 
Last year, the Tour de North team raising $257 thousand dollars for the cause. These funds were raised through donations, sponsorships and generous support from communities all over the North Region.
