Its Movie Night at Fort George Park

Saturday, September 15, 2012 @ 5:27 AM
Prince George, B.C. – Here’s a great idea for the entire family. A free movie on a late summer evening in the friendly confines of Fort George Park.

FreshAirCinema has teamed up with FortisBC to offer free outdoor movie nights in parks, parking lots, streets, floating barges and beaches in cities and neighbourhoods right across BC.  “We are very excited to host the FortisBC presents Fresh Air Films in a great community like Prince George where the whole family can enjoy a free movie night,” said Jason Bashnick, FreshAirCinema festival organizer.

"Enhance PG is pleased to partner with Fortis BC, and Fresh Air Cinema Group to provide this great FREE outdoor family event to the entire community. We are also pleased that Investors Group is partnering with this event to collect non perishable food donations to support the St Vincent de Paul Society food bank. We look forward to a great evening of entertainment!"

Tonight’s movie at Fort George Park begins at dusk. It will feature the third installment of the animated movie featuring four unlikely animal friends from the Central Park Zoo – a giraffe, zebra, lion and hippo – that continue their adventure to return to the Big Apple.  FreshAirCinema, utilizes a 4-story high inflatable movie screen creating a complete custom movie theatre experience in any open space.

Just a note. The weekend forecast is for mainly sunny skies in the daytime, clear and cool at night with a low of 1 degree tonight. Be sure to take appropriate clothing along with your popcorn to the movie.

These kind of events are such good-fun family events. The company I work for in the Fraser Valley puts on similar events all Summer long called Cineman Under The Stars, and they are very well attended.

I’m curious why the story above is being so coy with the movie title? It’s Madagascar 3. Just say what it is.

Also, the screen is 3-stories high, not 4. But that’s inconsequential to the good time you will have with your kids.

Not being able to say the name, more than likely, has everything to do with licencing and royalties.

Otherwise they’d probably have to charge admission for each person who comes to watch the film. The movie industry is incredibly restrictive with things like showing a movie to more than a few people at a time.

Fresh Air Cinema is posting what the movie title is on their own site. I fail to see what kind of licensing is being infringed by relaying that movie title in this medium.

Here’s the events we held and every movie presented was listed. The movies were free as was the popcorn (note to Fortis: You might want to step up to the plate for that btw).
