Prince George, B.C.- The UNBC Timberwolves Women’s Soccer team will be the first Timberwolves varsity team to play a CIS game on home turf. This weekend the NCSSL is playing host to two women’s games. The first against the University of Victoria Vikes this afternoon, and the University of Fraser Valley tomorrow.
Last weekend the women’s team managed to nab their first CIS point with a 0-0 tie against the Winnipeg Wesmen. Unfortunately the Timberwolves were unable to fend off top ranked Manitoba Bisons who defeated UNBC 11-0.
Keeper Jordan Hall was a staple for the Timberwolves defense during the Winnipeg match-up. Hall, who fended off nine saves, will be looked to again this weekend for solid play in net. Striker Sidney Roy and midfield Jessica Manning will add the offensive pressure for the Timberwolves while aiming to record their first CIS goal.
The Timberwolves will hit the field at noon today and tomorrow. Both games will be played at the North Cariboo Senior Soccer League Field beside the aquatic center.
A bus is available to take students from campus down to the field. Meet at the bus loop at 11:30 a.m. to get a seat, only 48 available. The bus will return back to campus at 2 p.m. Admission will be by donation, with partial proceeds going to the United Way.
