Saturday, September 29, 2012 @ 5:07 AM
Fort St James, B.C. – Expanded locum coverage will allow the Fort St. James Emergency Room to be open for nine days during the month of October.

The dates the emergency room will be open are as follows:
October 10 (evening) to October 11
October 13-14
October 16
October 18-October 19 (morning)
October 29-30

Northern Health says due to challenges securing further locum coverage, the emergency room coverage will experience temporary closures for the dates not listed above.

Northern Health has secured additional coverage for the clinic with a Nurse Practitioner and locum physicians. The Nurse Practitioner will be at the Nak’azdli Health Centre on October 12 and 25, and at the Fort St. James Medical Clinic October 5 (morning only) and 19. Locum physicians will be at the clinic October 1 and 26.

Besides the dates listed above, the Fort St. James Medical Clinic remains open.

Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
o Closed from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Appointments can be booked by calling 250-996-8291.
o Only same day appointments will be booked.

Prescription refills are available on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at:
o The Fort St. James Medical Clinic
o Lakeside Pharmacy
The clinic is closed on statutory holidays.

The Stuart Lake Hospital emergency room is the only department affected by these closures. If necessary, acute care patients will be discharged or transferred to another facility based on their care needs. Northern Health is also working with the BC Ambulance Service to manage emergencies during these periods.

Individuals who require emergency attention can call 9-1-1 for transport to the next open emergency department in Vanderhoof or Prince George, or can seek private transportation. Once discharged from the emergency department, patients will be required to find their own transport back to their home community.

Remember people don’t get sick or injured while the ER is closed. It may make the Libtards and JB think something is wrong with their perfect world.

Why is it the Liberals fault that nobody wants to work in Ft. St. James?

This is a backwards step in promoting all this so called million jobs and development that is supposed to be going on in the nortwest of BC, is it not? It appears the Liberals don`t want FSJ to develop? Maybe they have no choice and cannot get a doctor?

“Why is it the Liberals fault that nobody wants to work in Ft. St. James?”

Uh, this is a problem that has been going on for longer than the Liberals have been around, but I wouldn’t expect you to see that.
