Enbridge Working on P.G. Office

Wednesday, October 10, 2012 @ 6:42 AM
Prince George, B.C.- Enbridge has started renovations on the office space it promised it would establish in Prince George.

The office is the former credit union building at Parkwood Place.   In the past, it has been used as a Halloween costume outlet and most recently as the election campaign headquarters for Mayor Shari Green.

According to the building permit issued by the City, the renovations to the interior of the building have been pegged at $251,000.00 but one Enbridge employee has suggested that when all the furnishings are in and the dust has settled, the full price tag for setting up the office will be in the $750,000.00 range.

Enbridge had hoped to have the offices in place in time for the start of the hearings in Prince George, which got underway yesterday,  securing the lease, and the installation of data lines has taken longer than anticipated.

Glad to hear they are spending some money in PG, but it will be unnecessary past next May.

Despite the guesses and specultions by a few, Enbridge seems to be pushing ahead. What happens if this pipeline actually gets approved?

“Why?
Unless Clark sell us out you won’t need it.

But I fear she will or has and hasn’t told us yet….
after all why would we need to know?”

What do you think Clark has to do with it. This is a federal matter. Anything that is done by a provincial politician is just sabre rattling. You gotta let this go. She is not responsible for everything that is wrong in BC. When and if Adrian Dix gets in, we will see how lousy it will get in this province. They will be so worried about being percieved as simple union cronies that they will tie their own hands and nothing will get done for the left or the right. BC politics suck

If it gets approved, then just wait for the legal challenges. If that doesn’t stop it, then the Harper Cons, lose at least a dozen MP’s in BC, and the next election. With Mulcair in power, Northern Gateway is toast. But they are stubborn lying bas*ards, I’ll give them that.

Hope they have security guards hired.

herbster. What makes you think that the people who voted for the Conservatives would change their vote, if this pipeline went through???

I think it would be a fair statement to say that enviromentalists, etc; have never voted Conservative.

Muclair in riding on an anomoly that took place in Quebec. I suspect that the NDP will not hold on to 50% of the seats in Quebec that they won in the last election.

Furthermore, I beleive that once the US election is over, the Americans will re-route the Keystone pipeline and this oil will move to the US Gulf Coast, and to some extent to Vancouver using the existing pipelines. In additon they could start looking at moving some of this oil East.

The Enbridge option is probably dead in the water.

The next issue we need to face is the building of Site C. What a waste of time and money that goofy project is.

Palopu: “The next issue we need to face is the building of Site C. What a waste of time and money that goofy project is.”

Hey, slow down. The lefties can only focus on shutting down one industry at a time!

I wonder if they brought Chinese workers over to do the renovations??

“The next issue we need to face is the building of Site C. What a waste of time and money that goofy project is.”

Why?

Palopu: Conservative voters won’t switch. But the 50% of voters who don’t usually cast a ballot, can be mobilized by an issue like this. That is why they would lose MP’s from BC.

Agreed that Site C is a white elephant. You can build equivalent capacity in a natural gas generating station for 1/3 the price, and 1/4 the time.

You forgot one “and”……

and for an operating lifetime infinitely shorter …..

Just for reference …. the original Hydro station at Niagara Falls began operating in 1875.

What happens if this pipeline actually gets approved?

You will find that people will just vote for the NDP, just because of Enbrige. No question. Our rights and freedom have been squashed by this current Government (Gordon Campbell’s Liberals). Let alone an unelected Premier who cannot think for herself without the influence of the Federal Conservative Government. You can guarantee that IF this PL is a go, it will be built with unionized workers. The unions of B.C. would never let non unionized Chinese workers to come into B.C. and build such a controversial PL such as this.

Hammy, The honorable Gordan Campbell has been gone and out of the country for over a year now.
Shift your target.

hammy: “You will find that people will just vote for the NDP, just because of Enbrige.”

Seems like kind of a useless activity considering the pipeline is Federal.

“In the past, it has been used as a Halloween costume outlet and most recently as the election campaign headquarters for Mayor Shari Green.”

So, what do we call it now? “Freaks & Geeks”? “The Undead and the Brain-Dead”?

One politician at a time!

I guess all the swooning over Justin Trudeau hasn’t reached the NDP talking points yet.

Mulcair is so 2011, sorry flavour of the month leftists, but JT is the “new” saviour.

Split left vote and Conservative majorities for the next few elections.

Haha- the Cons are now so desperate they are rooting for a Trudeau!

“In the past, it has been used as a Halloween costume outlet and most recently as the election campaign headquarters for Mayor Shari Green.”

Could that be why our mayor spoke in favor of the pipeline last month while at meetings in Victoria? Didn’t Brian speak up against the pipeline? Where exactly does our city council stand on this project or are they too paralyzed by the core review to deal with any other issues.

I don’t care what the council thinks about the pipeline. It makes no difference. And everyone needs to get over the supposed link between the rental of a campaign office for a municipal election and the leasing of office space by Enbridge. I don’t think Rio Can’s people care who takes it as long as they pay for their leasehold improvements, fit the zoning and pay their rent. I’m surprised they didn’t try to set up an office on the highway 16 west corridor. I thought that was where everything was going.

“I’m surprised they didn’t try to set up an office on the highway 16 west corridor.”

I am not. Too easy to set up Aboriginal blockades. That is the last thing they want to get involved with a controversial issue that give the First Nations lots of free air time.

Can’t wait till the may election sooner if Alex has any thing to do about it. That’s Alex G. Tsakumis Rebel with a clause check it out.

Tsakumis is great. Ben should provide a permalink to his site.
