MLA Says Ft St John Earth Quake Could Be Caused By Fracking

Wednesday, October 24, 2012 @ 9:40 AM
Ft St John, B.C. – Cariboo North MLA, Bob Simpson says there is a direct correlation between two earth quakes that have hit around the Ft St John, Dawson Creek area in the past week , and fracking.
Early today an earth quake measuring 2.5 hit the area North West of Dawson Creek. It was the second earth quake of equal proportions to hit the area in the past week.
Because the quake was near the surface, residents in the area reported that the shake was significant. Natural Resources Canada says this quake hit at 12:14 am  today.
Simpson says "There is a major down hole disposal site north of Ft St John and experience in other parts of North America has shown that when you deposit this water under high pressure into the shale bed it can cause serious problems."   Water from nearby fracking operations is being deposited into the shale formation in that area.
“The trouble I have”, says Bob Simpson, "is the government discounted the Oil and Gas Commission’s report about the direct correlation between fracking and earth quakes in BC."   In Wisconsin, Simpson says, when the State stopped down hole disposal, the earth quakes also stopped.
"I intend to bring the matter before the spring session of the Legislature to ask the government to see what other jurisdictions have been doing with this problem and ask what the province of BC is doing about it."

How about them frackin’ earthquakes, eh?

We are just massaging the earth’s crust. Massaging is good for everyone. It relieves stress,

So, every now and then there will be a few muscle twitches. ;-)

Simpson what is your take on birds killed and wildlife disruption from wind generation?

Waiting for those who will be responding that the human activity of 7 or so billion on this planet cannot affect it …… :-)

come on, let’s hear it …..

oops …. one minute too late …. LOL

Instead of invading Iran or Syria, how about doing some undercover fracking in those places so mother nature can take can take care of the bad guys with earthquakes? And the bad guys can place the blame “on the will of Allah” instead of us. But then again maybe the NDP can make them wise up to us.

may all of yousmart guys have to drink the fracking water around that fracking zone of course

Yum. Doesn’t the water around there flow to Alberta ?

Gus what was your point?

At least he is asking some questions. Now lets see if he gets some answers.

What they wont say is what other than water are they pumping into the ground?? they wont talk about and why??

Probably the same as yours ….. that your comment had nothing to do with the topic. …

So people don’t like fracking, but they do love their cheap natural gas. Hmm…

I’m just waiting for the TV ad about the Brita filter and frackish water. Maybe an infomercial eventually.

Nice discussion boys, you should all sign up to facebook!!!
There the topics aren`t as tough…cheers.

The problem I have with fracking is the gas companies are not saying what kind of toxic mixture they are pumping into the ground to release the gas.. they use the umbrella of company secret.. nice way of avoiding the answer.. its something we will be paying for in the future as this concoction finally starts to affect things on the surface as it leeches out.
