Spruce Kings in Pink to Raise Awareness
Saturday, October 27, 2012 @ 3:48 AM
Prince George, B.C.- The Prince George Spruce Kings will be wearing some “pink” when they hit the ice tonight at the Prince George Coliseum.
The team is inviting fans to do the same, in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
For the team, wearing some pink is part of the “One Thing” they can do to help promote breast cancer awareness with the local Health Promotion Coordinators and volunteers from the Canadian Cancer Society.
The message this evening is about awareness and prevention of cancer through choices and the “one thing” you can do to minimize your risk.
Katy Luedtke will be the guest of honour tonight. A seven-year breast cancer survivor and step mom of current Spruce Kings player Jeremiah Luedtke, Katy has been actively involved at raising awareness and funds for cancer research. She has been instrumental in generating over $650,000 in donations along with a team of breast cancer survivors since being diagnosed with breast cancer.
The Spruce Kings will be hosting the West Kelowna Warriors tonight, with the puck dropping at 7:00.
