Special Olympics Launching New Program

Prince George, B.C.- Special Olympics Prince George is launching a new program in November.
Called “Club Fit”, it hopes to improve the overall health and fitness of Special Olympic Athletes for their entire life.
There are about 150 Special Olympic athletes in Prince George. Through Special Olympics, athletes with intellectual disabilities receive sports training and the opportunity to compete at many levels, which helps in the development of social skills, friendships increase self esteem.
The “Club Fit” program takes athletes a step further through an interactive program that will focus on fitness training, nutrition and mental training and is open to all Special Olympic athletes aged 14 and up.
Special Olympics Prince George celebrated it’s 25th anniversary last year, offering 15 programs in a variety of sports including: swimming, track and field, bowling, basketball, curling, power lifting, rhythmic gymnastics, Nordic skiing, figure skating, snowshoeing, soccer and golf.
Club Fit will be offered at the Synergy Core Fitness studio with the support of the studio’s owner and staff. It will run every Friday from 3:30 to 4:30.
