Parts of Tofino Evacuated As Precaution After Earthquake

Tofino, B.C. – Businesses , residences along the coast in Tofino are being evacuated as emergency personnel ask people to get to higher ground. The measure follows a 7.7 Earthquake which was centered in an area 25 miles south of Sandspit and touched off the tsunami warning siren in Tofino tonight.
The earthquake hit just after eight this evening and was felt as far east as Edmonton.

funny, I was talking to a city council member and relative in Tofino about 5 minutes ago and he said they were not in the danger zone… will check back and keep you posted
Juat talked to him again and he said the sirens were initiated and they responded but its been called off.
uh oh – possible increased warnings coming. maybe down to washington…
