This map from the US Geological Survey  plots all of the communities  which reported  feeling the quake.   The black star is the epicentre of the quake,  and the map clearly shows  the quake was felt as far east as Edmonton.
We would like to hear from you.
How did the earthquake affect you?
What did it feel like?
Where do you live?
Share your experience with us, and others who also felt this 7.7 shaker.
We have had reports from  Prince Rupert that  residents, facing evacuation to higher ground because of a tsunami warning,  are now  putting the rush on gas stations and grocery stores, topping up their supplies "just in case".

Felt it in the movie theater here in pg.

Crazy! I was sitting on my couch in front of the TV and went all off kilter…felt like the whole couch was swaying. Thought there was something wrong with me so stood up to get a more grounded feeling. Feeling that here in PG..i can’t imagine what it must have been like at the heart of it.

I told the wife I was going to rock her world ………………

Definitely felt it in Fort St James. Very strange sensation with furniture moving under you.

Was in Vanier Hall. Felt like seats were swaying under you like in a boat…

We heard this weird “woosha woosha” sound coming through the walls…. here in Port Moody.

the coliseum shook. All the hanging lights and heaters were swinging.

Over here in Lakewood I was oblivious that anything was amiss. My daughter out in Blackburn felt very dizzy and didn’t know why.

Was having a few beers and thought I’d had too many when the house started moving back and forth. Then my wife came downstairs and said “did you feel” that and I knew I hadn’t had too many.

It was a weird back and forth sensation like I was rocking in my chair, but I wasn’t.

In College Heights, our window blinds swayed twice for about 10 seconds each time and my son said he felt the chair he was sitting in kind of rumble.

I didn’t think anything about until later when I saw the news reports.

The awesome power of Mother Nature!

Nope. Too drunk to notice

Strange to watch a rocking chair start moving on its own.

thought my vertico had returned.

Not a thing

Didn’t feel it. But a friend noticed it.

I felt nothing of the earthquake. However I am down in California, Not anywhere near the earthquake. I did feel a couple tremors a couple days ago But that is it

We felt nothing here in Vancouver, WA, which is interesting, since we are quite a bit closer to the epicenter than Edmonton is!

I have many good old friends not too far away from the epicenter, hopefully they are fine.

Was in Shogun with friends and the single suspended light over our table began swaying back and forth. Very noticeable. All 6 of us felt it immediately. It was about 8:07 when we felt it.

Didn’t notice.

I was sleeping one off and never felt the shaking/ Too many martinis.
Cheers

We are at Inverness Rd. and had several seconds of shaking, the hanging plant, chandeler and venetian blinds were doing their own thing!

Didn’t feel a thing..live ner pine centre but my bro in the hart did

I wonder why some of us noticed and others didn’t? The way your home is built? It’s height, width, latitude?

Upper College Heights. Sitting on the couch with my wife, I had my feet crossed on the floor and I noticed my feet waving back and forth. My son was down stairs and he felt it quite a bit more.

I’m in College Heights and felt dizzy and wondered if one of the dogs was making the couch move but I didn’t give it any more thought until my friend called and asked me if I felt the earthquake. My fiance didn’t feel a thing and he was sitting across from me in a chair. Strange feeling.

I didn’t, I was driving but my neighbour across the street called me to say it really scared her. Her computer desk was moving and hanging plants were swaying.

Yup,too drunk to notice also.

I`v slept through or been very drunk during every major earthquake that has occurred in BC in the last 52 years.

I swayed, I was sober, it was cool.
Glad it didn’t cause any damage.

I was swimming and didn’t feel a thing.

It was felt here in Quesnel, blinds in windows swayed for a good minute. Was also felt at Bouchie Lake.
