Vanier Hall Audience Startled By Quake

Sunday, October 28, 2012 @ 7:25 AM
Prince George, B.C. – Vanier Hall in Prince George was packed with people when the big earthquake struck off the BC coast last night.

Local resident Debra McConnell was in Vanier Hall with her family and approximately 500 other city residents this evening watching the Ukrainian Shumka Dancers perform when she felt the entire row of seats sway…

McConnell says she and her husband, Darwin, both looked at each other as they felt the rocking side-to-side, and her 12-year-old son, Gavin, asked what was happening.  She said her immediate thought was how choatic would an evacuation become.  However, the show carried on without interruption and, speaking with others at intermission, McConnell says some felt the disturbance, while others did not.

Ryan Huebert lives on Harvard Crescent in Lower College Heights.  "Both my wife and I felt our house moving and felt a loss of balance," he said.  "The blinds on hour windows started to sway, as well as our son’s jolly jumper."

I feel ripped off…I never felt a thing on the Hart!

Johnnypg, I felt nothing either. It’s probably good we didn’t, eh, as it could have been worse.
