Prince George, BC – With excited kids getting ready to go door-to-door this evening, Prince George RCMP are out with some safety tips…
For trick-or-treaters: (photo at right courtesy PG RCMP)
- do not trick or treat alone. Children should be accompanied by an adult, teens should travel in small groups
- stay in your neighbourhood in areas you know
- wear bright clothing, use reflectors and flashlights
- do not go to houses with their lights out
- do not go inside a house or vehicle belonging to someone you don’t know
- be respectful of property, do not cut across lawns or gardens
- never go into alleys, parking lots, wooded areas, or vacant lots
- stay away from anyone playing with or using fireworks
- do not eat any of your treats before you get home. Have your parents check all candy to ensure they are safe to eat
For homeowners:
- please keep a well lit and clear path to your door
- keep pets indoors for the safety of both the animals and the children
- avoid using candles in Jack O’ Lanterns, use a glow stick instead
