BC Jobs Fair Coming To PG

Thursday, November 1, 2012 @ 10:26 AM

Prince George, BC – Prepare your resume as the provincial government brings a Job Fair to Prince George as part of its BC Jobs Plan…

The one-day event will take place next Tuesday, November 6th, at the Coast Inn of the North.  Minister of Jobs, Tourism, and Skills Training, Pat Bell, says, "The Prince George job fair will open doors for local residents and give them a chance to meet prospective employers in the region."

Exhibitors will include employers from a range of sectors, as well as post-secondary institutes, industry associations, training authorities, and the health authorities.  An interactive mobile exhibit which toured the province this summer will also be on-hand to provide information about skills training, employment services, job banks, and career development tools.

Area MLA, Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Shirley Bond, says the job fairs help job seekers gather information about local employers and create networking opportunities with those potential employers.

It’s not jobs we’re short of, it’s skilled workers. Take snow plowing for example – there are a lot of loaders sitting idle for lack of operators. And CNC cancelled its course that would train them. Go figure.

It is lack of interest in work that is the problem! The last job fair our company was at saw 10 times as many company representatives as people looking for work. It was down right disgusting!

Will there be a special section for Chinese who wish to work in Canadian coal mines?

They would probably shw up pepared at least!

Anyone know what time this starts and ends?
