Air Quality Advisory Issued For Vanderhoof

Prince George, BC – An Air Quality Advisory has been issued for Vanderhoof due to high levels of fine particulate matter in the airshed.
The provincial air quality objective for fine particles, PM2.5, is 25 micrograms per cubic metre averaged over 24-hours. The 24-hour rolling average was 39ug/m3 in Vanderhoof as of 10am this morning.
The advisory will remain in effect until further notice, with an update expected this afternoon.
Northern Health is advising residents with chronic underlying medical conditions to postpone strenuous exercise until the advisory is lifted. Exposure is particularly a concern for infants, the elderly and those who have diabetes and lung or heart disease.
