Fraser Lake – Highway 16 has now reopened after a multi vehicle crash early this morning closed the highway in both directions west of Fraser Lake.

 

Police say you can expect delays around the crash scene as police continue their investigation.

 

The collision occurred when the driver of a westbound Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) lost control of the vehicle in a gentle curve and slight grade just after 9.30am.    The SUV crossed the centre line, into the path of an eastbound passenger car with one occupant.  After colliding with the passenger car, the SUV was then struck by a commercial truck/ trailer unit, which was following the passenger car.   The eastbound commercial truck and trailer was then struck from behind by an eastbound commercial crane unit.

 

The driver of the passenger car succumbed to his injuries.  The occupants of the SUV have been transported with serious injuries and are being evaluated at hospital.

Each of the commercial vehicles only had one occupant and there were no injuries to either of the commercial vehicle drivers.
