Spruce Kings Fall in Double OT

Prince George, BC – The Prince George Spruce Kings lost 8-7 to the Trail Smoke Eaters in double overtime last night.

The Kings were up 5-3 at the end of the first period, thanks to a pair of goals from Shayne Morrissey and singles from Jeremiah Luedtke, Coltyn Hansen, and Tyler Watila.

There was no scoring in the second, before Trail managed 4 goals to PG’s 2 in the third to tie the game at the end of regulation.  Valik Chichkin got the game winner for Trail at 2:47 of the second extra session.

Kirk Thompson made 43 saves in net for Prince George.  The team plays in West Kelowna tonight.  The Spruce Kings have an 11-6-1-and-3 record, good for third place in the Mainland Division, with 26 points.
