Pedestrian Charged in Incident That Left Him Seriously Injured

Prince George, B.C.- The pedestrian who was hit by a rear bunk of a logging truck earlier this month, is facing a charge.
You may recall that on the 7th of November, RCMP in Prince George responded to an early morning call about a pedestrian being struck at 5th and Highway 97.
It was believed at the time that the driver of the truck may not have been aware that his trailer had come in contact with a pedestrian who police believe had stumbled into the back end of the tractor trailer unit.
The 50 year old driver of the truck has contacted investigators and police are satisfied that he was not responsible for the incident.
"Not all pedestrian collisions are the driver’s fault” says Sergeant Al Steinhauser, Prince George RCMP Traffic Services, “Many are a result of pedestrians failing to cross at marked intersections, being unpredictable or disobeying traffic signals. We ask that all pedestrians make eye contact with drivers, use proper crosswalks and be patient waiting at intersections".
The 19 year old pedestrian, who is now at home recovering from his injuries, has now been cited with Failing to Obey a Pedestrian Signal under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Do not feel sorry for this jerk. About time the police lay charges to the many people who decide to cross the road without looking to see if cars are comming.
I’m surprised more people don’t die from stupidity. Night time visibility can be pretty poor this time of year & these idiots still mince out into traffic without a second thought.
Like the 2 walking down 1st ave. this morning who walked right out in front of me with their backs to me and hoods on. Never even turned to look .Just walking down the road with a tall can of beer at 9 am . Barely stopped in time .
Yes, there seems to be a lot of people just looking for an excuse to be eliminated.
I am happy though that this person is recovering and is charged. Too many get away with it for too long.
They give absoultely no consideration to the shock, grief and trauma they cause drivers who may hit them.
I see lot of people out walking at night in dark clothing, not facing traffic, and (in the summer) bicyclists with no flasher and dark clothing.
How do they get that old being that stupid? Stay tuned, folks.
HarleyGuy72, Should of ran them over to teach them a lesson
I’ve seen a police officer drive by two teen boys doubling on a bike without helmets. Only to pull me over because my passenger wasn’t wearing his seat belt due to an injury.
Almost killed a teenager who was happily texting away when she stepped right out in front of me, not bothering to look, just the other day. Good thing it was a two lane road or I’d have a new hood ornament.
@ Mercenary….lmao, new hood ornament. Thank for putting the smile on my face.
Witnessed a jaywalker two years ago who walked out in front of a little chevy S10 which threw her about 30 feet through the air. I never got to find out if she died or not. Ignorant cows at the hospital don’t care if you are stressed or not after assisting at an accident. It was totally the girls fault but I still wanted to know if she survived. Prince George Hospital staff have no respect for their patients so why would they have any respect for a good samaritan. Even the police officer attending thought they were so cold. Nevertheless, the jaywalkers in PG are out of hand.
The article states he has been **cited** under the Motor Vehicle Act. Not sure what this is supposed to mean, however I suspect that he will at most get a fine in the area of $100.00 dollars, or get nothing other than the citation.
On the flip side of this I once knew a guy in elementary school that was killed while walking down a sidewalk in Peachland by a canoe that came off the top of a car and hit him in the back of the head, because the canoe wasn’t tied down.
Walking can be dangerous even when you follow the rules… best thing is to be aware of your surroundings and walk defensively… ditto for drivers.

There are these things called privacy laws, hospital staff can not tell you of a patients condition unless you are immediate family.
Secondly, how about you try their job, they always meet people at their worst times, allot of stress on the staff as well as the patients. Sometimes the best way to cope is to grow very thick skin. Its a job I would not want to do.
It`s nice to read that at least some folks are paying attention while driving in Prince George.
On the eye to eye contact with driver and pedestrian, when I`m walking and at an intersection if the driver is not looking at me when I`m on the curb,I`m assuming they`re not aware that I am standing there even if it`s in broad day light…and believe me it`s not just in PG but every town I have walked I have witnessed countless drivers not paying attention, and yes ditto for pedestrians.
