Prince George, B.C.- The annual event which marks the start of the Christmas season in Prince George starts tomorrow.
The Festival of Trees, is a major fund raising event for the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation and the doors will be open to the public at 9:00 Saturday morning.
Each year, the Civic Centre is transformed into a winter land of wonder with spectacular trees that harbor special decorations and gift packages.
One of the highlights this year, is the Big Bird tree, ( shown at right) which comes with all sorts of Sesame Street goodies.
Another of the smaller trees will surely be a hit with the little ladies in the family, as this tree is all about Justin Bieber. ( shown bottom leftDecked out in shades of purple, it comes with a Bieber doll, CD, and a special pillow.

The gala auction sees the trees auctioned off to the highest bidder.
The event is made possible through the work of hundreds of volunteers who create the trees, decorate wreaths, set up the displays, and staff the gift shop.
The ten day Festival offers numerous events, from the gala auction to special teas, a Jingle Bell dance, family brunch, and teddy bear breakfast. The full calendar of events can be accessed here.

I agree! This is a great affordable family event and all the funds raised stay in our community! The kids especially love it!!
