Operation Red Nose Needs You

Saturday, November 24, 2012 @ 4:13 AM
Prince George, B.C.- With just over 200 people signed up to volunteer for Operation Red Nose this year, the call is out again for more to step forward and assist in making sure people, and their vehicles, get home safely from any Christmas partying in Prince George.

The goal is to have 300 volunteers  signed up, either to drive, or answer phones.

In an effort to make that happen, Operation Red Nose spokesperson Andrea Johnson says they will be at the Spruce Kings game tonight . “It’s a chance for Operation Red Nose volunteers to spread the word about volunteering as well as make fans aware of the service that’s available during the holiday season” says Johnson.

Operation Red Nose is just one week away from it’s first night of service as it will be operating Friday November 30th, December 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22 and New Year’s Eve.

Volunteers must be 19 years old, have a valid driver’s license and fill out the required Criminal Record Check forms.  Because it takes some time for applications to  go through the Criminal Record Check process,  it is important that anyone interested get their application in as soon as possible so a full complement of volunteers is ready for the first night.

Applications are available on line, and can be accessed here.

Volunteers can be designated drivers, navigators and operate phones out of Operation Red Nose headquarters.

On average, about 15 teams of three will be on call each night of service, working from 8 p.m. – 3 a.m.
