No Public Threat Following Chetwynd Area Deaths

Chetwynd, B.C. – The investigation into the discovery of two dead people in a residence at Moberly Lake, near Chetwynd, has been turned over to the B.C. Coroner’s Service.
And a spokesperson for the North District Major Crime Unit confirms that there is no threat to the public in the wake of the deaths. Media Relations Officer Constable Lesley Smith tells 250 News that “public safety is not at risk.” Asked whether police are investigating a murder-suicide, Const. Smith would not comment. She says the investigation is confined to that residence, that next-of-kin are being notified, and that further comment on the matter will come from the Coroner. Names, genders and other information regarding the deceased are not yet being released.
At approximately 9:40 Friday morning Chetwynd RCMP responded to a report that two person had been found deceased in a residence in the Moberly Lake area. The local detachment officers were joined at the scene by RCMP Forensic Identification Services, the B.C. Coroner’s Service and the North District Major Crime Unit.
