Williams Lake, B.C. – A fire broke out this morning at the Cariboo Regional District’s Transfer Station in Williams Lake.
The fire, which has now been extinguished, has caused approximately $50,000 worth of damage to the structure.
The fire began when the CRD contractor, Peterson Contracting Ltd., started up the equipment in the transfer station building when the equipment unfortunately ignited. The operator tried unsuccessfully to extinguish the flames, and subsequently called 9-1-1 to dispatch the Williams Lake Fire Department.
The Williams Lake Fire Department has examined the facility and has declared it safe to re-open.
