LNG Conference Planned for Early 2013

Friday, November 30, 2012 @ 3:58 AM

Prince George, B.C. – The stage is being set for the first LNG international conference in Canada, and it is to be held in Vancouver  in late February.

In preparation of the conference, the Province will be  giving it’s support to the development of a special natural gas sector labour demand report. The report will be developed by training authorities and industry. It will outline the jobs that will be needed, where, and when.

Called “Fuelling the Future: Global Opportunities for LNG in BC” the conference is set for the 25th and 26th of February at the Vancouver Convention Centre.   It is hoped the conference will bring together LNG proponents, First Nations, local governments, investors and consumers from across the country and around the world.

In addition to talking about the labour needs of the industry, the conference proposes to delve into issues of global markets, and regulatory best practices.

B.C. plans to have three LNG facilities operating by 2020. The construction of three large LNG and connecting pipelines could result in up to 1,400 ongoing jobs, with hundreds of indirect jobs being created to support the natural gas sector’s operations.

Anyone have any idea as to how the increased sale of cheap natural gas will effect the sale of pellets???

Seems to me both pellets and natural gas are used to generate electricity. Will we see an increase in gas sales, and a decrease in pellet sales??

For every action thier is a reaction.

With the much higher prices they are expecting to get for LNG [up to 20 times what you are currently paying to heat your home]…how much is your home heating bill going to rise?

In case you haven’t noticed British Columbians are always expected to pay ‘world’ prices if they are higher than what could be charged domestically…but we never pay the lower ‘world’ price, IE USA gas prices.
