Emergency Crews Welcome Troubled Small Plane

Tuesday, December 4, 2012 @ 9:57 AM
Prince George, B.C.-   Emergency crews at the Prince George Airport were ready to act, as they waited for a Beech 1900 plane to touch down.

The pilot had radioed to the tower that he thought he was having some issues with his braking system. The landing gear was fine,   but the brakes were in question.

The small plane landed just safely moments ago.

Volunteer fire fighters from Pineview Firehall were  on standby, and other emergency services such   as   Ambulance Service from Prince George , P.G. Fire and Rescue, and the RCMP were also ready to act if need be.

Airport spokesperson Lindsay Cotter says  there has been no impact to operations at the Prince George Airport.

BC Racer. Dont get your point. This plane could have easily (and might have) landed on the runway that runs East to West.

I doubt if the size of the runway had anything to do with the incident.

Palopu: I think he was being a little bit sarcastic? Hmmm.

The 1900D cruises at about 285 knots (328 mph or 528 km/h) true airspeed. Ordinary trip lengths range from 100 to 600 miles (20 minutes to two hours), but with full fuel tanks, the aircraft is capable of flying well in excess of 1,000 nautical miles (1,900 km). Airlines often prefer the 1900 over jet aircraft for shorter routes due to its fuel efficiency, and because trip times are not significantly longer on distances up to 300 miles (480 km).[6]

The Beechcraft 1900 can operate safely on relatively short airstrips and it can take off and land on grass and rough runways.

Better to be safe than sorry. Glad everyone is safe on the ground.

Maybe your right Give more. Time for a nap.
