Lakes District Hospital Project Ready for Next Phase

Tuesday, December 4, 2012 @ 1:44 PM
Burns Lake, B.C. – The first phase of the Lakes District Hospital project is complete.

Yellowridge Construction has completed the $1.3 million dollar site preparation on time and on budget, with the final work completed Monday.

The work included the removal of existing building services, installing new water and sanitary sewer connections for the new facility and relocating and removal of portions of the perimeter fencing.

The moving of the existing nurses residence was contracted to Nickel Brothers. That building in now ready for occupancy.

The process to select a design-build team is in the request for proposals (RFP) stage. The RFP will close in the spring of 2013, after which time a preferred proponent will be selected based on the submissions.  The site prep being completed means the construction can start as soon as the contract is awarded.

The total capital cost of the project is up to $55 million.

Construction is expected to be completed by the summer of 2015.
