Tuesday, December 4, 2012 @ 10:05 PM

The Prince George Cougars earned their 10th victory of the season Tuesday with a 2-1 decision over the Moose Jaw Warriors. Jarrett Fontaine and Daulton Siwak supplied the goals in the first period while Brett Zarowny stopped 33 of the 34 shots he faced for his sixth win of the season.

The first period was fairly even through the first 15 minutes, but towards the end the Cougars started to gain momentum. Jordan Tkatch stole the puck in the offensive zone, centered the puck in front, and Jarrett Fontaine finished off the play for his fourth of the season.

Just over two minutes later, the Cougars struck again. This time it was Daulton Siwak who took a Troy Bourke pass off the rush and put it into the open net for his seventh of the season, and second goal is as many games. For Bourke, it was his first game action since November 9th. 15-year-old call-up Brad Morrison added the second assist on the play, and has now earned a point in each of his first three games in the WHL.

Carson Bolduc and Jake Mykitiuk also had great chances in the first period, but Moose Jaw netminder Justin Paulic made a terrific pad save off of Mykitiuk, and Bolduc hit the post.

Early in the second the Warriors made it 2-1 when Sam Fioretti skated in on Brett Zarowny and beat him to the glove side.

From there, both teams traded chances in the second but both Zarowny and Paulic did not flinch. Each team went zero-for-one on their second period power play chances.

More of the same in the third as both goaltenders rose to the occasion. Moose Jaw outshot the Cougars 14-7, but Brett Zarowny stopped them all, and the Cougars held on for the victory. The final shot tally had Moose Jaw ahead by a 34-25 margin. Each team went zero-for-one on the man advantage.

The Cougars record improves to 10-14-1-3, and their 24 points now put them back in the top eight of the Western Conference playoff race.
