Prince George, B.C. — The Cariboo Cougars put Saturday’s loss behind them quickly storming to a 4-0 win over the visiting Vancouver NorthWest Giants for Nathan Warren’s sixth shutout of the season.
Braiden Epp kept his hot streak going opening scoring at the 11:55 mark of the first on the power play from Liam Blackburn and Brad Morrison.
The Cats took the 1-0 lead into the middle frame when Kirk Hards scored the Cougars first non-Braiden Epp goal of the weekend just over a minute in from Eli Jarvis and Tre Potskin. Logan Styler scored his first of two in the game at the 7:09 mark to give the Cats a substantial 3-0 lead after 40 minutes.
Styler then scored on another rebound midway through the third, again from Epp and Blackburn.
Warren stopped all 24 Giants shots for his 12th win and MML leading sixth shutout of the season. Epp and Blackburn each had three points in the win as the Cougars improve to 18-6 and remain in third place in the BCMML, six points back of the first place Giants and four behind the Okanagan Rockets.
The Cougars handed the Giants just their second loss on the year and their first shutout since last season.
The Cats now enter their Christmas break as far as the BCMML is concerned but the team has a busy holiday season ahead with the upcoming Mac’s Midget Tournament in Calgary later in December and the team’s annual alumni game next Sunday at CN Centre.
