Red Nose Rides Up

Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 11:04 AM
Prince George, B.C.- It was a very busy weekend for Operation Red Nose.

The free service, which makes sure you and your vehicle get home safely from holiday partying, provided 124 safe rides home on Friday the 14th, and 158 safe rides on Saturday.

“It goes to show that party-goers are choosing a safe alternative to getting home,” said Andrea Johnson, Operation Red Nose spokesperson. “They appreciate what we’re doing and our volunteers were more than happy to help them out.

So far in 2012 Operation Red Nose Prince George has provided 626 rides, which puts the local project second overall out of 23 Red Nose groups in the province behind Langley/Surrey which leads with 678. Kamloops sits third overall at 607.

Operation Red Nose has three nights remaining in its 2012 campaign and expects to get even busier.
“Because of the way Christmas falls this year, we only have about 18 teams lined up for this weekend and New Year’s Eve and we’re asking those who have already helped us out one or two nights to help us out again,” said Johnson. “We’d really appreciate it. Those who sign up for New Year’s Eve have a chance to win a pair of tickets to see Jerry Seinfeld May 2 at CN Centre.”

New volunteers who haven’t submitted their application yet must do so before Dec. 19 in time to have their Criminal Record Check processed. Volunteers must be 19 years old and have a valid driver’s license.
