Protecting Water Supply Main Concern for Community Sustainability

Prince George, B.C.- A new study shows that when it comes to planning the sustainability of a community, the key issue is protecting the water supply.
The study, funded by the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions involved more than 100 local government elected officials and staff, along with academics and consultants who took part in surveys and focus group sessions as part of this research.
Communities in rural B.C. ranked “protecting drinking water supplies” (80%) and “pursuing economic diversification (60%)” as the most important aspects of a successful sustainability strategy.
“The future supply and quality of water are quickly becoming critical concerns as the climate changes, even in a temperate province like BC” says PICS executive director Tom Pedersen. He says it is clear the water supply will impact rural agriculture just as much as it impacts municipal supplies “This report reinforces the need for regional planning in BC that firmly recognizes the climate changes that are rushing down the pipeline towards us. ”
There are some differences in key issues as viewed by rural municipalities, and regional districts.
In addition to protecting drinking water, regional districts identified a need to protect agricultural land, and to prevent rural sprawl among their top priorities. Municipalities meantime, pegged pursuing economic development and supporting higher density development suitable for a small town, as their top priorities next to protecting drinking water.
But the one thing that is clear from the research is that with differing priorities, there cannot be a “one size fits all” plan. Instead, the planning and resulting actions have to be tailored to the concerns and circumstances in each particular community in order to be effective.

Hmmmm and they want to put a bitumen pipeline across our water supply!
speaking of water – has anyone else noticed the giant weeping crack around the water tower on Sintich? It looks like it is about to break in half…
interceptor. Yes I notice it every time I drive by. Presumably the City has also noticed.
“”Communities in rural B.C. ranked âprotecting drinking water suppliesâ (80%) and âpursuing economic diversification (60%)â as the most important aspects of a successful sustainability strategy.””
Water is the most valuable resource on this planet….some people forget this. Without water you have no life, without life you have no future……
“The future supply and quality of water are quickly becoming critical concerns as the climate changes” So Tom Pedersen how is the climate changing? Is it getting hotter, colder, wetter, drier, snowier? Last time I checked the climate is always changing. Tom you left out water usage and population increases. Oh I guess that does not sound as dramatic as climate change. That’s the money maker is it not, always mention climate change and your funding will always keep rolling in.
Folks notice how the money maker was global warming but since that term is not working out so well since there has been no global warming now 17 years despite the increase in plant food. He conveniently left that part out. Might risk his funding.
“involved more than 100 local government elected officials and staff, along with academics and consultants who took part in surveys and focus group sessions as part of this research”. Wow that’s it then, that seals it. I bet these are all like thinking people and no one with a different view allowed.
Todd Whitcombe ran a funny article about the carbon foorprint of bananas, I suppose he also meant C02, but anyhow what he left out is, take away C02 and no bananas. Oh by the way Todd and Tom the earth has greened 30% since the increase in C02 and 97% of that increase is natural.
Tom, Todd, David, Mark, Andrew you should you should all read this

Looks Like the UN-IPCC which the climate alarmists take as fact has been caught out on their big lie.
“Instead, the planning and resulting actions have to be tailored to the concerns and circumstances in each particular community in order to be effective.”
Not a revelation to some, but when it comes to neighbourhood communities, might be worth a read by Council and those new planners who write their reports for Council’s wishes.

This website was inspired by my frustration reading though WattsUpWithThat’s onslaught of nonsense and crazy-making. ~ ~ ~ It’s a collection of articles and blog posts along with a few original writings that I believe are worth sharing – Food for thought during this struggle to teach serious science in a world seemingly filled with politically motivated and sadly disconnected dogmatists. ~ ~ ~ Hopefully a resource for the busy, yet discerning student ;-)
“This website was inspired by my frustration reading though WattsUpWithThat’s onslaught of nonsense and crazy-making.” Got some examples, while you are at it how come there has been no warming for almost 17 years?
So Ronald how much time do we have before we cook?
“The same can be seen in the instrument record post 1850. It is only for a short period beteen mid/late 1970s and 2000 that temperatures and CO2 have risien largely in unison. But in the instrument record as a whole, there is no correlation. There are temperature rises before any significant changes in CO2 levels took place. There is a fall in temperature between mid 1940s and 1970s despite the rapid rise in CO2 levles and of course, there is the present hiatus during the last 10 to 15 years where temperatures have largely flat lined notwithstanding increases in CO2 levels.”
That site is full of examples with videos so you don’t even have to read
And in my opinion Peter Hadfield is more credible than Anthony Watts

so do you believe co2 can be the only cause of any global warming of which there has been no global warming for almost 17 years now despite rising c02 levels. How does that happen?
