Lights Out in Upper Fraser
Prince George, B.C.- For the second time this week, the power is off to residents in a triangular shaped region bounded by Willow River on the west, Hutton on the east and Aleza Lake on the north.
Hydro’s Bob Gammer says the outage is the result of not one but two problems. "The service was lost around 12:20 today when the transmission line went down" says Gammer. That tansmission line feeds the substation, and while repairs focused on that line, it tripped several times before the repair was complete.
Then, the distribution line went down "The crew that works on the distribution line is a different crew than the one that works on the transmission line, they are different specialties, so that crew (distribution) is now working on the problem and we hope to have the distribution line repaired and service restored by 11:30 tonight."
Gammer says crews did spot tree branches on the distribution line and that is the suspected cause of the outage along that line.
277 customers are impacted by the outage.

Actually this is the THIRD time!!
The outage is under investigation. Hmmmm.
Could it be because of the state of the lines, and the maintenance over the years, in conjunction with contracting out, and reduced manpower??
Just askin.
Well I thought with all the hype on the smart meter this was not supposed to happen. That thy could find the problem and fix it fast not the case I see. Just another way for them to get more money out of the consumers
Hope nobody is too cold, and that the power is on soon for friends out there.
I stubbed my toe today. I blame the smart meters.
Acidflash just how is a smart meter supposed to stop power outages? Newsflash for ya it reports outages, does not stop them.
They don’t need smart meters to find out about outages…I guarantee you the phones start to ring just as soon as the power goes out.
Why did just I envision a little Koodo guy living inside each smart meter. The snow, wind, old age, whatever brings a tree down on the line and “do do do dooooo” he jumps out and fixes the line…
